I have always loved all animals, every single specie, since the day I was born. All my life growing up I was the tomboy who was playing with bugs and reptiles and watching Steve Irwin on TV. He was my hero as a child, and I was crying for days after he died. He still continues to inspire me in my life as I try to educate others about the importance of animals to this world and as I try to continue on my path to becoming a conservationist and voice for our most important kingdom.. animalia. To this day I still stop while driving to move snakes and turtles off the road to a safer location and I do my best to help any other animal in need.
I have an amazing friend named Joe, who is the best zookeeper I have ever known. He is the herp (reptile/amphibian) keeper at the lovely Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. He has given me amazing opportunities to get up close and personal with some of the most interesting animals at the zoo. All the other keepers at the zoo have given me so much knowledge and so many wonderful opportunities, also. I love every single one of them with everything in my heart, and I hope that sometime soon I'll be able to be at the zoo a lot more.
